Long test mode
If the printeris turnedon whilethe (PAPER FEED) buttonis pressed,the
printerwill enterthelong self-testmode.The printerwillstartprintingas
soon as the
CPAPER FEED) button is released,and will print the version
numberof the printer’sROM,followedbythe wholecharacterset printed
in each font stylesandpitch available.
Thetest cyclesendlessly.To stopthe test youmustswitchpoweroff.
Sincethe test print occupiesthe wholewidthof the carriage,it is recom-
mended that the printer is loaded with continuousstationeryto avoid
possibledamagetotheprintheadand/orplaten.Inaddition,thetotalnumber
oflinesprintedis considerable,morethancanbe accommodatedon a single
sheet,so fanfoldpaperis certainlysuggestedfor thistest.
Printarea testmode
Ifyouwanttoknowhowmanylinesonyourpapercanbeprinted,tryto run
thispnntarea test.Byholdingthe~ ‘%FWCT]buttondowndunng power-
up,theprinterwillentertheprintareatestmode.Theprinterwillprintthe
firstlinemessage,thenprintsthelastlinemessageonyoursinglesheetafter
feedingthepaperto the bottomof thepaper.
If youhaveloadedthe fanfoldpaper,the printershowsonlythe firstline.
Stayin panelpitch
By holdingthe @iTCR)button down during power-up,you can prevent
softwareinterferencewith the printpitch selectedfrom the controlpanel.
Youwillhear an acknowledgingbeep aspowercomeson.
Afterthebeeptone,youcansettheprinteroff-line,selectaprintpitch,then
returnto on-lineandstartprinting.Thepitchyouselectedwillnotbe reset
or otherwisechangedby anycommandsyoursoftwaremay issue.
